The Ukraine Response Team is currently processing a large volume of Online Temporary Protection Renewal (OTPR) applications from Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection (BoTPs). This means that it may take some time for an applicant’s application for renewal to be processed. If an applicant’s application for Temporary Protection is successful, they will then be sent their new Irish Residency Permit (IRP) card and Temporary Protection certificate.
In the event that an employee’s IRP card has expired and they are unable to obtain a valid registration card prior to the expiration date of their current IRP card, they are legally permitted to remain in the State under the conditions of their existing IRP card until their application is processed and a decision has been made. This provision is contingent upon the employee providing evidence that they have submitted an application for the renewal of their Temporary Protection.
All permission renewals within the Republic of Ireland are processed online, and applicants receive an email receipt of application from the Department of Justice that includes the date of submission and a unique application number (OTPR number). This email confirmation serves as proof of permission while the applicant awaits a decision to be made on their application for the renewal of Temporary Protection.
If an application has been successful, the applicant will receive another email with their name and OTPR number stating that their renewal has been granted. This email can be used as proof of registration while the applicant awaits the delivery of their new IRP card and Temporary Protection Certificate.
