If you are the family member or partner of an Irish national and you would like to join them in Ireland, you can find out how to do this in the following pages. Different family members can apply to join an Irish national, including spouse, parent or child. There is a separate application for each category of applicant and different conditions will apply.

I am the de facto partner

If you are in a committed, long term relationship with your de facto partner who is an Irish national, and wish to join them in Ireland, please read here to see if you are eligible and the conditions that apply.

I am the spouse/civil partner of an Irish national

You may be able to join your spouse/civil partner who is an Irish national. You need to read more information here about how to apply, and to discover what you may do in Ireland if you are successful in your application.

I am the parent

If you are the parent of an Irish national and wish to join them in Ireland, please note there are additional qualifying conditions and there is a minimum financial threshold. Read the information here carefully.

I am the child

If you are the child, that is a minor dependent under the age of 18, or the dependent child in full-time education up to the age of 23, of an Irish national and you wish to join your parent, please read here.

I am another family member

If you are not an immediate family member of an Irish national, (a non-nuclear family member) there are certain criteria to be met in order for you to join your Irish national family member. Please read here for the conditions for this type of application.
